Dibley 44 Esperança Bluewater Cruising Yacht, Dibley Marine

Dibley 44' Bluewater Cruising Yacht

Designed as a Bluewater Cruising Yacht to a detailed brief by client. The brief for this design was interpreted as follows:

HULL & APPENDAGES:

This is a safe and easily driven hull with fast passage-making qualities. The hull incorporates a fine ‘V’ shaped entry that flattens out into a nice run aft. Moderate beam and a well-balanced hull volume distribution will allow excellent load carrying capacity with superior performance characteristics.

The keel and rudder incorporate the latest in foil design in order to maximize lift while minimizing drag. Our client for this version is going for a semi-skegged rudder. Fully skegged is also available.

SAIL AND RIG PLAN:

This Solent rig utilises swept spreaders that allows a permanent backstay to be eliminated. The Main is full battened and contained within a furling boom when not in use. There is enough separation between the furling Genoa and the Solent Jib that they can be efficiently sailed together.

There is a further Staysail which would be removable so that when not required, can be stored away. Controls for the cars and sheets are lead aft through hidden channels, to the cockpit. This keeps the deck clean and uncluttered.

A prod is incorporated next to the anchor system and Furling Code Zero’s or a Gennaker in a sock can be hoisted easily and effortlessly.

Overall the sail plan is powerful while being controllable with many options to either de-power or go for full performance.

DECK:

Automated sailing systems make for a clean deck and the streamlined pilothouse enhances the yacht’s attractive profile.

The cockpit is laid out for entertainment and ease of sailing. All control lines lead aft to the helm station.

Seating forward of the helm station allows al-fresco dining and enough length to be used as outside berths.

A bimini / soft top will be designed above the seating to make this a second semi-opening salon area. A hard dodger is also being looked at.

Aft of the wheel, we have kept it quite open. The transom folds down to give access to the dinghy and lazerette as well as providing an excellent boarding platform when swimming, diving or getting in and out of the dinghy. When closed it creates a safe aft cockpit area when sailing offshore. Plenty of storage and work station space has been incorporated..

INTERIOR:

As you come down the companionway, you will note the layout is open and spacious.

A good sized Galley to starboard with a comfortable double cabin aft.

To port is a Day head, shower and laundry area and aft of that is a work station with engine and systems access. This space can also be used as an overflow cabin with single or pipe berth access Opposite the Galley to port is a full sized Nav Station that is raised to allow good viewing outside.

The main saloon, entertainment and dining area, offers abundant natural light, but has also been designed to create an air of intimacy.

Up forward lies a large Double Berth cabin with ensuite and good storage and locker space to the sides and under berth.

Hull port lights to port and starboard and a large Hatch above brings in further natural light.
